| | Home / Misc / Computer troubles / Network folder looks empty on a client but it is not. | System | Windows XP Professional (server), Windows Vista (client) | Problem | The folder in a network I had access to before from a client now seems to be gone. When I access the folder from a client computer, it looks empty. When I
access the folder from the server, everything seems okay. | Solution | The most reason when this happens, the the network share name is changed, i. e. to "C$" or similar. On
your server, right click the folder, you wish to share and go to "Sharing". You will see, that the "Share Name" has changed. But you can not change to the old one, because "Share names" (once defined) cannot be changed. You can either define a second (new) sharename or stop sharing the 'old' by deleting it with "remove". Changes will take affect after rebooting. | Post Comment | | |
