DELL Latitude E6500 with Windows Vista Business
 

Problem

Your audio sound has a crackling problem. It cracks, skips, pops and makes noises on audio files. You cannot enjoy listening to sound anymore. It seems like you can not solve this problem by uninstalling and installing the drivers. A bios update and any other refreshing solutions didn't help.
 

Reason

This is actually neither a sound problem, nor a driver problem. This problem occurs most likely on Vista and it's software related.
 

Solution

Restart your DELL, keep pressing F2 until Bios comes up. Follow the following steps on your Bios:

Miscellaneous Devices

 

>

uncheck Enable eSATA Ports

>

Intel® SpeedStep™

 

>

uncheck Enable Intel® SpeedStep™

Virtualization Support

>

check Enable VT for Direct I/O

 I had a popping sound on a Dell Latitude E6400 with Win XP.  Resolved by going to Control Panel, IDT Audio Control Panel, and turning off Power Management.

Almost 100% of the popping and crackling is gone. Not a perfect fix, but considering nothing else worked at all...

Dude... I have updated drivers, etc etc.  Nothing worked.
I left the enable VT for Direct I/O unchecked (didn't do step 3)
and this FIXED my problem.  Holy Sh*t that was annoying!
