The above did not work for me (4/18/12); however ..the discusion and suggestion DID lead me to a potential solution. Only time will tell. I, too, often had huge slowness as adbobe took for-ever to download some upgrade. What I did, and hopefully will work for me (int exp 7; adobe reader 8) is: OPEN adobe-reader>help>check-for-updates>preferences ....THEN ...UNSELECT the box "automatically check for updates"

You can use RoboForm to protect all your sites ftp passwords.

Just set "Logon Type" in Filezilla's site manager to "Ask For Password". Then login and save the password info in RoboForm. Your passwords will never be stored by Filezilla and you can save as many logins/passwords as you need for all your sites.

How to do this with Linux (Ubuntu or other distros).
My AMILO L1310G does not show any network capabiities via Linux system software. Neither does not work the adapter switch on the panel.
NO WIRELESS as the result

i have a bit of a similar problem.
im using a external sound card, and occasionally this driver drops, and the sound undergoes a terrible distortion. this happens when im working with cubase/apleton live ect. and only when im working with vsti and various audio processes. (such as browsing samples, using auto playback)

i ran the 3 fixes, but still suffer the same crash.

it all goes away again, when i reselect the driver in the audio bay.
(untill i touch my vsts again, and it all starts over.)

ive played several live sets using this laptop, (in front of hundreds of people) with perfect stability... but once i open a vst to create a sound, i all falls apart.

if anyone has a theory about what this could be, id be really happy to know of it; but until then, id not recommend anyone to buy this type of laptop.

and to dell, the question is, how did a computer that fails at its fundamental interaction with other devises, ever end up on the marked anyway???
